JUMP 2019 REDESIGN
The overall design of The Jump was to capture the small improvised elements, and the large scale wow moments that occur in the game of basketball.
I created the term “high art” to describe the elements that we would need to make that represented the game of basketball in a very simplistic way. The entire team then created their own high art which was then used in all the style frames and final animations. This allowed everyone to create a piece of the show.
These style frames were the building blocks of not only the look of the show but also the animation of it.
After these explorations of motion I decided to take the flat concept and then add some 3d to it. My thought was that this mostly flat world could absorb 3d objects and bring them into the flat world, and possible have things interact. The resulting video below led to a full motion theory concept for the show.
